GB3FR is located in a brick and steel hut, which is in turn inside
another building. Insulation, thermostatically controlled heating and a dehumidifier
provide a constant environment, necessary to ensure that the cavities remain in tune.
The interior is painted in a range of different colours mainly because the whole thing
was, in true amateur spirit, built on a shoestring, and the decoration was carried out
with paint donated or scrounged, there was not enough of any one colour to paint all the
walls. However, due to the ravages of time, the interior of the hut is now in need of
redecoration, but the group is reluctant to do this because of the historical nature of
the graffiti on the walls of the hut. Here are some pictures of the graffiti, if any
memories are jogged by this, please email!
The somewhat faded wording on this
picture
reads "Big Jayne was here 7-11-79". Underneath some
wag (we know who!) has written "she wouldn't all fit in here"!.
A word of explanation: the hut is only about 3 by 4 feet in floorsize!
